Ten Years Ago…

The weather this winter is proving most odd. The temperature has remained above zero and I have not yet had to break the ice on the water butt. Snow has only fallen on heights above 1,500 metres and there has been an inordinate amount of rain and cloudy days. Some people have described this winter as spring-like. Are we then going straight on to spring-time or will winter really arrive with a vengeance? This morning, for a change, it’s raining heavily

It’s a good time to look at old photographs and I’ve decided, from time to time, to include some taken ten years ago . After all, with the massive increase of my photograph collection since the advent of digital cameras, there are so many pictures to look at again and, perhaps, anew. Memories linger in the mind and for this reason some photos are a joy to view again while others are tinged with melancholy. Captured in the moment they stay forever fresh and young while we must inevitably step onward to our dusky end.

Here is a little collection taken exactly ten years ago in our part of the world. Let us remember the good times we’ve had with those no longer with us rather than continue to mourn their loss. We must look at our glass of life as being at least half-full rather than half-empty!

  1. Global warming for some means global freezing as witnessed in many parts of the world. This is all a cycle of weather change that we are experiencing extremes in weather conditions that are truly rocking our world jostling us high winds blowing upon us all the elements seem to be rebelling against man’s redirecting of water flow as witnessed in Genova last year as well as tamed mountains are on the move not to mention the fire element of volcanoes spewing its violence upon humankind as in Indonesia. I feel that Nature is trying to tell us so much it is man’s doing as in many areas man has broken the natural cycle of events and Nature is only naturally trying sometimes in vain and sometimes successfully to reclaim its territory with sadly disastrous effects upon innocent humans beings. The dreadful spontaneous fires in Portugal and California come to mind with the horrendous consequences upon human and animal life and livelihood. The vastness of our Universe is remarkable and at it’s inception was so harmonious and well balanced now sadly I feel we are on the edge of a precipice and dangerously off course how to reconcile with Nature to help restore this amazing one time perfect balance and sycronicity. Dearest Napoleon it is one month that you are in a different form and this too has caused an imbalance in all our lives feline and human we miss you so terribly and love you for ever more. You have been the sunshine in our lives and may the sun shine on you evermore!
