On Tuesdays ‘Fresco’ supermarket in nearby Pian di Coreglia offers 10% off shopping for over 65s on production of its loyalty card. Thinking of that Beatles song which goes ‘Will you still need me, will you still feed me when I’m sixty-four’ we took advantage of this generous offer after a tip-off from a friend who resides in the area.
We found the products on sale and their prices very competitive. What struck me most, however, was the amazing variety of wines, spirits, liqueurs, aperitifs and digestives on sale.
Everything from the cheapest red wine to the most expensive products of the ‘Cinque Terre’ was available. The variety of gins was delectable, the single malt whiskeys breathtaking and the grappe absolutely stunning. And as for that Southern Comfort….
I think I know where to start stocking up on this year’s Christmas cheer!
