Return to Covent Garden to see ‘Semele’ with Pretty Yende as the heroine. It’s our second Handel opera this year (the first was ‘Giulio Cesare’ at Lucca’s Giglio). Beautiful music, great singing and quirky production. Amazing that this bawdy opera was one of the works we had to study at school for ‘O level’ music…

Siamo tornati al Covent Garden per vedere “Semele” con Pretty Yende come protagonista. È la seconda opera di Händel che abbiamo goduto quest’anno (la prima è stata “Giulio Cesare” al Giglio di Lucca). Musica meravigliosa, canto eccellente e produzione originale. Incredibile che quest’opera scurrile fosse una delle opere che abbiamo dovuto studiare a scuola per l’esame di musica “O-Level”…
