There is so much happening in Lucchesia’s summer that it’s difficult to keep up with it all. Not only that, it’s often difficult to find the information until someone tells you ‘wow that was a fab show I went to at blabla’
So what can you to do to keep up with the immense plethora of events in our part of the world?
- Take a picture of every poster you find advertising an event.
- Visit Bagni di Lucca’s helpful tourist office at regular intervals.
- Google for events in the area.
- Chat to people about what’s happening.
- Decide what you’re really interested in.
There are three main categories of events
- Foody ones – sagre, feste etc.
- Arty ones – concerts, theatre, shows, palii etc.
- Sporty ones – marathons, swimming pools, car rallies etc.
Because the weather is still so lovely, not too brazenly hot and often with a gentle zephyr, there is no excuse for sitting at home meditating on what to do. The world, or at least, the Lucchesia is your oyster! (Which reminds me go to Marina di Pisa for some great ones – oysters I mean!)
Here’s a start….I have already decided on the reopening of Bagni di Lucca swimming pool after extensive refurbishing and the concerts at Villa Bonvisi.
I have also decided to publish all the events I can find in our area on an ongoing way in my facebook page at
https://www.facebook.com/fpettitt
This is to avoid clogging up my blog with too many posts.
I sometimes find all this hedonistic activity quite overwhelming especially when I feel that I ,as I may be missing something interesting and uplifting. We certainly all need motivitating in these difficult times of worldwide catastrophes whether they be manmade or simply part of the planets evolution. It is great always also to have something to look forward to do however I like the freebie events luckily these still exist for people and anyways one can still invent ones own entertainment that can be enjoyed simply like just going shopping and people watching which combines many good practices such as walking greeting people on the way thus acknowledging your fellow human beings on this planet earth a smile a nod of the head eye contact. Even just gardening weeding watching plants grow from tiny tiny seeds I find this so rewarding and fascinating even quite humbling. Our farmers worldwide are to be truly admired as to their amazing ability to still grant us such variety of food to reach our tables amongst all this adverse climate. Thanks for your blog it is uplifting and shows signs that humanity is still active and interested in the beauty love truth that they can offer us through their various talents and art forms that will see us through these difficult times.
Just heard UK Festivals in many towns all a form of escapism maybe as we shut down and go to maybe 6 events wow exhausting or what but actually it is 3 – 4 per annum. Music Festivals can be a great experience or not as we well know come rain or shine sometimes too hot or wet and too cold. Now many Festivals offer free entry to unemployed glad to hear that also OAP’s. Festivals here cater for all SEG or demographics and ethnicity but actually catered for all question of preference and choice really. Just think so many ideas styles shows such as Edinburgh Bath Glastonbury Reading Leeds City of Llondon Rochester Broadstairs to name a few. Anyone can create a Festival it is belief in oneself having a good idea getting sponsorship grants and staying afloat. Good Luck anyone out there embarking on such a project.
