Ogni villaggio in Inghilterra dovrebbe avere almeno questi otto articoli per chiamarsi un villaggio:
1. Una chiesa con un monumento ai caduti.
2. Un pub
3. Un ristorante fish and chips.
4. Un luogo dove si serve il the, un buon breakfast all’inglese e altre bontà.
5. Un ‘green’ o campo dove si possa fare una partita di cricket nell’estate, una partita di calcio oppure, semplicemente, una camminata.
6. Una village hall, cioè una sala parrocchiale.
7. Il palazzo di milord dell’antico feudo.
8. Più importante di tutti: un senso di comunità che permetta avvenimenti culturali e sociali di avere presenza e coltivare un senso di solidarietà.
Ora, con le mie foto illustrative, dove siamo nella verde e amena campagna inglese?
Affatto. Siamo, invece, a Londra. In preciso siamo a Charlton nella parte sud est della capitale. Come ho dichiarato in un post precedente, Londra non è altro che una catena di villaggi che si sono fusi per formare una delle più grandi e vivibili capitali del mondo.
Mi domando quanti villaggi della Controneria hanno queste qualità a sufficienza? Eppure troppi sono villaggi solo in nome….Senza questi profili pero’, in particolare, la solidarietà, ci sarà poca speranza per il futuro di Bagni di Lucca e i suoi villaggi.

What a great fish and chip meal this was certainly most memorable we managed to have our fish Friday. Friday was once held as the one day of week when the Catholic Church abstained from meat to eat fish this was then dropped but as far as possible we like to maintain this tradition. It reminds me of Jesus and the fish and loaves, incidentally I was not that greedy I did not eat all that fish portion and chips we shared this. But I do remember eating fish and chips which were take away and wrapped in newspapers and we ate them out of newspapers. Way back when fish and chips was a staple diet for many UK citizens and affordable one portion each but nowadays things have sadly changed radically. Although some chippies do serve a smaller portion of fish for OAPs so do ask as this is not always advertised.
